Match of the Day: Alex Glaude wins the 2019 World Team Trials Challenge Tournament
by USA Wrestling
2018 was a banner year for Alex Glaude. She broke through to make her first National Team and also took bronze at the U23 World Championships. In 2019, Glaude continued to progress, moving up from the No. 3 spot on the National Team to the No. 2 spot at 68 kg. The No. 1 wrestler in the country at the weight class is returning World champion Tamyra Mensah-Stock.
In the 2019 World Team Trials Challenge Tournament finals, to punch her ticket to Final X, Glaude had to defeat No. 2 on last year’s National Team Randyll Beltz in a best-of-three series. After dropping the first match by fall, Glaude battled back to win the next two matches.
