U.S. men’s freestyle delegation set for Grand Prix of France – Henri Deglane in Nice, Jan. 21

A delegation of six top U.S. Senior men’s freestyle wrestlers, all who compete for the Titan Mercury WC, will wrestle at the Grand Prix of France – Henri Deglane Challenge in Nice, France on Saturday, January 18.
Among the competitors is 2020 Senior Nationals runner-up Myles Martin (Columbus, Ohio/Titan Mercury WC) at 86 kg/189 pounds. Martin was an NCAA champion for Ohio State, and a member of the 2018 U.S. U23 World Team. Based upon his placement at the Senior Nationals, Myles has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at Penn State in April.
Dean Heil (Norman, Okla./Titan Mercury WC), a two-time NCAA champion at Oklahoma State, is competing at 65 kg/143 lbs., as well as Evan Henderson (Jersey City, N.J./Titan Mercury WC). Henderson, a star at North Carolina, was seventh at the 2020 Senior Nationals.
Two other past Oklahoma State wrestlers will be in the tournament, Eddie Klimara (Joliet, Ill./Titan Mercury WC) at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. and Derek White. Stillwater, Okla. (Titan Mercury WC) at 97 kg/211.5 lbs. White, an NCAA runner-up for the Cowboys, was seventh in the 2020 Senior Nationals.
Competing at 61 kg/134 lbs. is Shelton Mack (Charlottesville, Va./Titan Mercury WC). Mack competed at Pitt in college.
The men’s freestyle tournament will be held in its entirety on Saturday, January 18. There is a Greco-Roman competition on Sunday, January 19, but there are no U.S. entries expected.
Nice is six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time zone.
This is the 46th Henri Deglane Challenge competition, one of the oldest international events on the annual schedule.
