HAMPTON, Va. – The semifinals have been set for the 2020 Virginia Duals National College division, which features eight NCAA Div. I teams. This is the 40th year of this historic and trailblazing event, the Granddaddy of the major college dual meet tournaments.

Three of the four seeded teams advanced to the semifinals with quarterfinal wins on Friday. No. 1 Virginia will battle No. 4 Old Dominion, and No. 2 Rider will face unseeded Maryland, at the 2:00 p.m. Eastern time session on Saturday at the Hampton Coliseum.

Maryland secured a 22-18 victory over No. 3 seed Fresno State, winning on the strength of bonus points, as each team secured five victories. The Terrapin light weights came out strong as Brandon Cray scored a major decision at 125 over Destiny Summers, followed by a pin by King Sandoval over Gary Joint at 133 pounds. In addition, Jaron Smith secured six team points with an injury default win over Ryan Reyes at 197 pounds. Fresno State’s lone bonus point victory came at heavyweight, as All-American Josh Hokit pinned Parker Robinson.
