Grand View sets college dual meet streak record at 93 straight wins at Winter Clash Duals, then adds two more wins
by Grand View Athletics
Marshall, MO – Grand View men's wrestling, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, beat the college all-time dual win streak and set a new record at 93 consecutive duals won. Grand View defeated Marian University 36-6 at the Missouri Valley Winter Clash Duals to garner another record.
The last time the Vikings have lost was November 7, 2013, where Grand View lost to Division I Iowa State University in Hilton Coliseum. The Vikings have yet to lose another dual since that night in Ames. Just recently, Grand View tied the all-time record with a 55-0 victory over Benedictine College.
The previous record-holder was New York Delhi who also won 92 in a row from 1979-1983. Another record that Grand View tied last year was Dan Gable's longest national championship streak by any college at any level. With nine straight NAIA national team championships, Grand View has a chance of breaking that this year.
The Vikings increased that record even more during the day, stretching it to 95 after posting wins over No. 10 Cumberland 31-15 and Texas Wesleyan, 49-0.
In the dual versus Cumberland at 285, unranked Greg Hagan (FR/Des Moines, IA) took down the No. 2 ranked Patrick Depiazza with a pin in 3:47. Another huge victory was Carson Taylor (FR/Humboldt, IA) over No. 7 Kobe Nelms of Texas Wesleyan.
Teammate Tanner Abbas (SO/Kanawha, IA) posted two tech falls versus No. 9 Marian and No. 10 Cumberland. He defeated Ismael Cornejo 23-8 and Tyler Moore 18-3.
