The U23 Nationals featured many intriguing matchups between college wrestlers. The 61 kg semifinals provided one such battle between Iowa’s Austin DeSanto and Penn’s Michael Colaiocco. DeSanto is a 2019 NCAA All-American and 2020 NWCA First-Team All-American at 133 pounds. Colaiocco earned NWCA Second-Team All-American status as a freshman last season at 125 pounds.
