Bruce Robinson named U.S. Greco-Roman World Team Coach

Bruce Robinson of Colorado Springs, Colo., a coach with the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program, has been named as the volunteer coach of the 2019 U.S. Greco-Roman World Team, which will compete at the World Wrestling Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, September 14-17.
Robinson will coach alongside USA Wrestling National Greco-Roman Coach Matt Lindland and the USA Wrestling Greco-Roman National Coaching Staff in Nur-Sultan.
He has coached with the Army WCAP program since 2005, helping lead the Army to numerous U.S. Open national team titles. The Army has also won every Armed Forces Championships team title since Robinson has served on the staff there. Robinson has helped coach numerous U.S. World Team members and National Team members from the Army WCAP program over those years.
Robinson has helped served as a personal coach for four of the 2019 U.S. Greco-Roman World Team members who will compete in Nur-Sultan: Max Nowry (55 kg), Ildar Hafizov (60 kg), Ryan Mango (63 kg) and Ellis Coleman (67 kg). The U.S. Army currently has nine of its athletes on the 2019-2020 Greco-Roman National Team.
He was an assistant coach for the 2012 U.S. University World Team, the year Nowry won a University World gold medal. Robinson has helped coach a number of U.S. Senior Greco-Roman teams on international tours, and has been a personal coach and coaching staff member on five past U.S. World teams.
As an athlete, Robinson competed for the U.S. Army from 1996-2004, and was a U.S. Open All-American in Greco-Roman. Robinson was a University Nationals champion. He retired from active duty with the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class in 2014. He was a two-time Florida state high school champion for Astronaut High School.
