Miracle, Nelson, Fiske, Carpio and Taylor receive draws for U23 World Championships

2017 Junior World champion Maya Nelson will take the mat tomorrow for the U.S.
BUDAPEST, Hungary – The final five women’s freestyle wrestlers received their draws for Thursday’s action at the 2019 U23 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Representing the USA tomorrow will be Felicity Taylor at 53 kg, Arian Carpio at 57 kg, Kayla Miracle at 62 kg, Maya Nelson at 65 kg and Alyvia Fiske at 72 kg.
Miracle, a 2019 Senior World Team member and two-time age-group World medalist, will compete in her eighth World Championships tomorrow.
To open the tournament, Miracle will face Slovakia’s Reka Bacsfaiova, who was 16th at 2018 Junior Worlds.
2017 Junior World champion Maya Nelson returns to World competition after taking last season off due to injury.
Nelson, who also owns a 2016 Junior World bronze medal, drew India’s Nisha Nisha for her first bout at 65 kg. Nisha was fifth at the 2015 Cadet World Championships.
Wrestling at 72 kg, Fiske will represent the Red, White and Blue in her second World Championships of the season.
Fiske, who took fifth at the Junior World Championships in August, will begin competition against returning U23 World bronze winner Zhamila Barbekgenova from Kazakhstan. Barbekgenova is also a 2014 Junior World bronze medalist and 2013 Cadet World bronze medalist.
Two-time Cadet Pan American medalist Arian Carpio will go head-to-head with Pinki Pinki of India in her first match at 57 kg. Pinki won silver at Alexander Medved Prizes earlier this year. She is also a 2018 U23 Asian silver medalist.
At 53 kg, 2018 Junior Pan Am Team member Felicity Taylor will take on 2019 U23 European bronze winner Viktoria Vilhelm from Hungary in the first round.
