USA Greco wraps up first day of action at U23 World Championships

BUDAPEST, Hungary – American Greco-Roman wrestlers Jesse Porter, Matt Finesilver and David Tate Orndorff were eliminated from the U23 World Championships during the second session on Friday evening in Budapest, Hungary.
Three-time U23 World Team member Porter was eliminated at 77 kg when his first-round victor and three-time Junior World medalist Sajan Sajan of India failed to make the finals, losing to Kodai Sakuraba of Japan, 5-4, in the semifinals.
At 87 kg, Finesilver wrapped up his first World Championships as Kiryl Maskevich of Belarus, whom the American lost to in the first round, dropped a 6-1 match to reigning U23 World champion Semen Novikov of Ukraine.
Representing the U.S. at 130 kg, Orndorff completes his first World tournament with a 1-1 record.
Orndorff lost in the quarterfinals to Osman Yildirim from Turkey in the quarterfinals earlier in the day. Yildirim failed to make it to the finals, losing to 2018 U23 World bronze medalist Aliakbar Yousofiahmadchali of Iran in the semis, 6-5.
Overall, the USA went 1-5 on the day and all five competitors were eliminated from competition.
