In the semifinals, Velte led 2010 World bronze medalist Henna Johansson of Sweden in a 1-1 tie, in which Velte had criteria with the last point scored. However, Johansson scored a takedown with 12 seconds left to win the bout 3-2 over Velte.

Velte will face Lais Nunes de Oliveira of Brazil in the Sassari City bronze-medal bout. Velte defeated Nunes in the bronze-medal bout at the 2018 World Championships by a 2-1 margin.
