JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Top ranked Menlo College pushed nine wrestlers into the semifinals, and took a strong lead after the morning session at the historic first NAIA National Invitational on Saturday.

Menlo had 45 points after the quarterfinals, with Oklahoma City in second with 30 points and six in the semifinals. Third place was a tie between Campbellsville and Wayland Baptist, both with four in the semifinals.

Consolation rounds are ongoing, through the All-American “blood round,” which will affect the team scores.

The semifinals are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Central time. The event is being broadcast live by FloWrestling.

Menlo’s semifinalists are Hiba Salem (101), Alleida Martinez (109), Gracie Figueroa (109) , Tiana Jackson (123) , Solin Piearcy (136), Marilyn Garcia (143), Angela Peralta (143), Iman Kazem (155) and Precious Bell (170). Martinez, Figueroa and Piearcy were WCWA national champions earlier this year.

At 143 pounds, both semifinals feature the top two teams. Maggie Douma of Oklahoma City will face Marilyn Garcia of Menlo College in one semifinals, while Angela Peralta of Menlo College will battle Cierra Foster of Oklahoma City in the other semifinal. Foster is returning from injury, and was not at the WCWA Nationals in February.

There is a third Menlo vs. Oklahoma City semifinal, as WCWA champion Alleida Martinez of Menlo drew Cassidy Jasperson of Oklahoma City.

The superstar bracket at 170 pounds will feature a pair of great semifinals. 2019 WCWA champion Dymond Guilford of Missouri Baptist faces 2018 Final X runner-up Rachel Watters of Oklahoma City. The other semifinals includes talented Precious Bell of Menlo College against past WCWA runner-up Mariah Harris of Campbellsville.
