Junior/14U Girls Duals set to get underway tomorrow in Tulsa, Okla.

With the completion of 14U/16U Duals last week, it’s time to round out the final set of age group duals. Junior Duals in men’s freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s freestyle, as well as the inaugural 14U girl’s duals will take place June 19-22 in Tulsa, Okla.


The addition of the inaugural 14U girl’s duals marks another step in the evolution of women’s wrestling, one of the fastest growing sports on the planet.


Illinois has been the best performing team of all the age-group duals for the past decade, and Junior Greco-Roman is no different. When Illinois defeated Oklahoma Outlaws 44-21 in the first place match last year, it marked back-to-back titles for the Prairie State and their eighth in 11 years.


Illinois will be bringing another tough team to Tulsa, Okla., this year. 16U national champions Adrien Cramer and Abe Assad are both listed on their roster. 


Junior men’s freestyle has been a little bit more up for grabs then Greco-Roman. Ohio defeated Minnesota in a close 33-32 battle last year. Ohio, Minnesota, and Oklahoma have all won titles since 2015.


This year’s Ohio squad will be led by Fargo/UWW Junior National place-winners Dustin Norris, Victor Voinivich, and Nevan Snodgrass. Voinivich made the Junior All-Tournament Team a year ago in freestyle.


2019 marks the second-straight year Junior Women’s Freestyle National Duals will be held alongside men’s freestyle in Tulsa, Okla. While Texas brought home the title in 2018 by defeating Illinois 47-20, and had seven athletes go undefeated, California did not compete. California is always loaded with women’s freestyle talent and will be back this year to compete for a title.


Wrestling will get started tomorrow at 9 a.m. CST with Junior women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman. All matches can be streamed live on TrackWrestling.com.
