Of the 15 best-of-three series at Final X: Lincoln this weekend, there are four rematches of championship series from last year's Final X event. USA Wrestling will post the match video from each of the 2018 Final X series which will be a rematch this year, one per day over the next four days.
Our Thursday posting is the best-of-three series at 97 kg in men’s freestyle between Kyle Snyder and Kyven Gadson from the 2018 Final X.
Snyder and Gadson have been doing battle going back to college, when Gadson, a senior at Iowa State, was able to pin Snyder, a freshman at Ohio State, in the NCAA finals. Since then, in their battles in freestyle, it has been Snyder who has won all of the bouts.
2019 will be the third year in a row in which Snyder and Gadson will compete for the spot on the U.S. Senior World Team. In 2017, at the Freestyle World Team Trials, Snyder swept the series with a pair of technical falls, winning 10-0 and 13-2. In Final X at Lincoln in 2018, Snyder scored a pair of convincing decisions over Gadson, 9-0 and 10-2.
Snyder has made four straight U.S. Senior World Teams, winning the Olympic gold medal in 2016, claiming World titles in 2015 and 2017, and a World silver medal in 2018. Gadson is seeking his first Senior World Team berth. Below are the two Final X matches from 2018.
Bout One – Snyder dec. Gadson, 9-0
Bout Two – Snyder dec. Gadson, 10-2
