Dias, Mortimer, Dorado Marin, Welker and Elor receive draws for 2019 Cadet World Championships

SOFIA, Bulgaria – The final five women’s freestyle athletes have received their draws for Thursday’s action of the 2019 Cadet World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Wrestling for the USA tomorrow is Sterling Dias at 40 kg, Sage Mortimer at 46 kg, Adriana Dorado Marin at 53 kg, Kylie Welker at 61 kg and Amit Elor at 69 kg.
Returning Cadet World bronze medalist Dias hopes to improve her place on the podium this time around. To open her tournament at 40 kg, she will face 2018 U15 European champion Alina Kurylenka of Belarus.
Kurylenka was fifth at the 2019 Cadet European Championships.
One of the most anticipated American performances comes from Elor, who is a 2018 U15 Pan American champion. Competing at 69 kg, she drew 2018 U15 European bronze medalist Karolina Povk of Ukraine in the first round.
Welker, a 2016 U15 Pan Am bronze medalist, will take on Taipei’s Yu Lin Lo in her opening bout at 61 kg. Lo was fifth at the 2019 Cadet Asian Championships.
Three-time Fargo champion Mortimer will make her international debut on Thursday, facing two-time Pan American bronze medalist Serena DiBennedetto from Canada to begin her day at 53 kg.
2018 16U Fargo champion Adriana Dorado Marin will represent the USA at 53 kg. She has first-round bye and will face the winner of the round of 32 match between Alessia Hetmanava of Belarus and Pushpa Yadav of India.
Hetmanava is a 2018 U15 European champion and a 2019 Cadet European bronze medalist, while Yadav does not have any international credentials.
