KRASNOYARSK, Russia – U.S. women’s freestyle wrestlers Victoria Anthony and Forrest Molinari advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix on Thursday.

Anthony, a two-time Senior World Team member and a two-time Junior World champion, competed at 50 kg, taking out 2018 U23 World bronze medalist Namuuntsetseg Tsogtochir of Mongolia with an easy 11-1 technical fall.

2018 Senior World Team member and two-time U23 World Teamer Molinari breezed through her first match with a first-period fall over Sakhipjamal Aleuatdinova of Uzbekistan in 1:37.

With several changes made to the original brackets and UWW’s website not updating, it is unclear who Anthony and Molinari will face in their semifinals. USA Wrestling will update as that info becomes available.

All six men’s freestylers that competed on Wednesday night were knocked out of the championship bracket in the first round.

2017 World silver medalist Thomas Gilman (57 kg), 2018 Senior World bronze medalist Joe Colon (61 kg), two-time Senior World medalist James Green (70 kg) and Final X runner-up Jason Chamberlain (70 kg) each won their first bouts, but all four came up short in their respective quarterfinals.

Zane Richards, who competed at 57 kg, dropped a late heart-breaker to two-time Senior World bronze medalist Bekhbayar Erdenebat of Mongolia, 8-7. Erdenebat scored a four-pointer with just moments left in the bout to lead on criteria. The USA corner challenged, but it failed.

Gilman, Richards, Colon, Green and Chamberlain will all find out if they will contend for a medal tomorrow after today’s semifinals, which are scheduled for 5:30 a.m. U.S. ET on FloWrestling.org.

Cory Clark, a 2018 Grand Prix of Spain silver medalist, fell to Colon in the first round by way of a 10-0 tech fall. Clark’s tournament came to an end when Colon lost in the quarterfinals.
