12 Americans get day-two draws day for Dan Kolov International; Burroughs v Chamizo likely in round two

RUSE, Bulgaria – Another 12 U.S. wrestlers have received their draws for the second day of the Dan Kolov International, the second UWW Ranking Tournament for men’s and women’s wrestling,


Four past World medalists from the United States are among those who will start their competition on Friday.


2012 Olympic champion and four-time World champion Jordan Burroughs (Lincoln, Neb./Nebraska WTC) opens up at 74 kg/163 lbs. against two-time Commonwealth champion Jitender of India.


With a first round win, Burroughs would likely face World champion and Olympic medalist Frank Chamizo of Italy in the second round. Burroughs and Chamizo had three battles in 2018, with Burroughs winning two of them including the World bronze-medal match.


2017 World silver medalist Thomas Gilman (Iowa City, Iowa/TMWC/Hawkeye WC) will face 2016 European bronze medalist Georgi Vangelov (Bulgaria in the opening round at 57 kg/125.5 lbs.


Among the women, 2018 World bronze medalists Mallory Velte (Sacramento, Calif./TMWC) at 62 kg/136 lbs. and Tamyra Mensah-Stock (Colorado Springs, Colo./TMWC/OTC) at 68 kg/149.5 lbs.


Velte will draw fellow U.S. star Kayla Miracle (Campbellsville, Ky./Sunkist Kids) in her first bout. This is a rematch of 2018 Final X, won by Velte two matches to one.


Mensah-Stock starts off with Agnieszka Wieszczek-Kordus of Poland, a 2008 Olympic bronze medalist.


All of the action is broadcast live on FloWrestling. The morning session begins at 10:00 a.m. local time, which is seven hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time zone.
