Nine U.S. men and women freestylers get draws for Dan Kolov International in Bulgaria, a UWW ranking tournament

RUSE, Bulgaria – Six U.S. men’s freestyle wrestlers and three U.S. women freestylers have received their draws for the first day of competition at the Dan Kolov International, the second UWW Ranking Tournament for men’s and women’s wrestling.
A pair of past World medalists from the United States, two-time World medalist James Green (Lincoln, Neb./Sunkist Kids/Nebraska WTC) at 70 kg/154 lbs. and 2018 World bronze medalist Joe Colon (Fresno, Calif./TMWC/Valley RTC) at 61 kg/134.5 lbs., received their draws.
Colon opens against two-time African Junior champion Saleh Eddine Kateb of Algeria. There are 18 athletes in his weight class.
Green, who has won a World silver medal and a World bronze medal, opens with Evghenii Volkov of Romania, who was fifth in the 2019 Henri Deglane Challenge in France. Also competing at 70 kg for the USA is 2016 Olympian Frank Molinaro (Norman, Okla./TMWC/Oklahoma RTC) who opens with Mehmet Karaca of Turkey. Green and Molinaro have 20 athletes in their weight class.
Three other U.S. men’s wrestlers are competing on Thursday and have received their draws which are listed below: Alex Dieringer (Stillwater, Okla./TMWC/Cowboy RTC) at 79 kg/174 lbs., Riley LeFever (State College, Penn./ Nittany Lion WC) at 92 kg/202.5 lbs. and Michael Macchiavello (Raleigh, N.C./Wolfpack RTC) at 92 kg/202.5 lbs.
Dieringer, a National Team member, won three NCAA titles at Oklahoma State, while Macchiavello won a 2018 NCAA title for NC State. LeFever was a four-time NCAA Div. III national champion for Wabash.
The three U.S. women competing on Thursday are all at the 65 kg/143 lbs. weight class: Forrest Molinari (Iowa City, Iowa/TMWC/Hawkeye WC), Maya Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids/OTC) and Amanda Hendey (Colorado Springs, Colo./TMWC/OTC). There are 13 athletes in their weight class.
Molinari, who was fifth at the 2018 World Championships, opens against 2010 World bronze medalist Henna Johansson of Sweden. Nelson, a 2017 Junior World champion, will face 2018 Mediterranean champion Nour Jeljeli of Tunisia. Hendey, who is coming off a silver medal at the German Grand Prix last weekend, faces 2018 World champion Petra Olli of Finland.
All of the action will be live on FloWrestling. The first session begins at 10:00 a.m. local time, which is seven hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time zone.
