GYOR, Hungary - Two-time Senior World Team member G’Angelo Hancock (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) scored three straight wins on Saturday morning to power his way to the gold-medal finals at 97 kg/2013 lbs. at the Grand Prix of Hungary, the second UWW Ranking Tournament.

Hancock will meet two-time University World champion Fatih Baskoy of Turkey in the gold-medal finals.

In the semifinals, Hancock defeated Hassan Ali Aryanezhad of Iran, 3-2. He led 1-0 at the break after Aryanezhad was hit with a passivity penalty. In the second period, Aryanezhad forced a stepout to tie it at 1-1. Officials hit Hancock for passivity to give Aryanezhad a 2-1 lead. However, when Aryanezhad tried to turn Hancock on a gutwrench, Hancock stepped over for a two-point reversal with exposure for a 3-2 lead he did not relinquish.

He opened the tournament with an 8-0 technical fall over Seyeol Lee of Korea, then stopped Abudourexiti Alimujiang of China, 4-0 in the quarterfinals.

At 63 kg/139 lbs., Travis Rice (Washington, Ill./Illinois RTC/NYAC) has qualified for a bronze-medal match against 2018 World bronze medalist Salike Walihan of China.

Rice opened with an injury default win over Tamas Nad of Serbia. In the semifinals, he fell to Erbatu Tuo of China, 9-0. Tuo was fifth in the 2018 World Championships.

In the UWW Ranking Series standings prior to the even, Hancock was ranked No. 13 and Rice was ranked No. 16. Both will secure points from the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hancock receives at least six points as a finalist plus 10 points for having more than 20 entries. Rice gets at least two points for reaching a bronze-medal match and six points for having fewer than 10 entries.

The finals are set for 6:00 p.m. local time, which is six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time zone.

The event is broadcast live on FloWrestling.
