U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers seek UWW Ranking Series Points at Hungarian Grand Prix, Feb. 23-24

Just two weeks after the first UWW Ranking Series event of 2019, the U.S. Greco-Roman team will be looking to pick up more UWW Ranking Series points. A team of 11 U.S. wrestlers will be heading to Gyor, Hungary to compete in the Hungarian Grand Prix, Feb. 23-24.
The UWW Ranking Series will determine the top four seeds at the 2019 World Championships in Kazakhstan.
Of the 11 American wrestlers competing, there are eight past U.S. Senior World Team members, two Olympians, a Junior World champion and a Junior World bronze medalist.
The two past Olympians for the U.S. competing this weekend will be Ben Provisor (State College, Pa./NYAC/Nittany Lion WC) at 87 kg and Robby Smith (Evanston, Ill./NYAC/Chicago RTC) at 130 kg.
Provisor competed in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, while Smith was a 2016 Olympian. Smith boasts four U.S. World Team berths, while Provisor was a 2017 Senior World Team member. Both are past Pan American gold medalists.
Highlighting the U.S. roster with their Junior World medals are 2017 gold medalist Kamal Bey (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) at 77 kg and 2016 bronze medalist G’Angelo Hancock (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) at 97 kg. Both have made U23 World Teams and Senior World Teams. Hancock most recently earned a bronze medal at the Grand Prix Zagreb Open, the first Ranking Tournament. Bey was seventh at the 2018 Senior World Championships.
Also competing for the U.S. will be past Senior World Team members Dalton Roberts (Marquette, Mich./NYAC) at 60 kg, Pat Smith (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 72 kg, RaVaughn Perkins (Colorado Springs, Colo./NYAC) at 77 kg and Patrick Martinez (Colorado Springs, Colo./NYAC) at 87 kg. Martinez has been on three U.S. World Teams.
Coming off a fifth-place finish at the first Ranking Series event, 2019 Grand Prix Zagreb Open is Travis Rice (Washington, Ill./Illinois RTC/NYAC) at 63 kg. Rice was a 2018 U23 World Team member. Also competing are Kevin Radford (Tempe, Ariz./Sunkist Kids) at 87 kg and Nicholas Boykin (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Sunkist Kids) at 97 kg.
Of those U.S. wrestlers in the competition, those in the current UWW Ranking Series standings are No. 7 Bey, No. 13 Hancock and No. 16 Rice.
Wrestling will begin Saturday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. local time (4 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time) and will be streamed live on FloWrestling.org.
