SOFIA, Bulgaria – Robert Perez III will continue his World debut on Saturday as he was pulled back into repechage at 65 kg at the 2019 Cadet World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Perez, who went 1-1 in the morning session of Friday, still has the opportunity to battle back for bronze at 65 kg.

Losing to 2019 Cadet Asian bronze medalist Sheraz Ochilov of Tajikistan in the quarterfinals, Perez needed Ochilov to win in the semifinals against 2019 Asian champion Hojat Rezaei of Iran.

Ochilov outlasted the Iranian, winning the match 3-1 and pulling Perez back into the competition.

Tomorrow morning, Perez will face Arman Khachikyan of Armenia, who was fifth at the 2019 Cadet European Championships.

Americans Cory Land and Braxton Mikesell wrapped up their 2019 World Championships on Friday night.

At 45 kg, Cory Land was eliminated from the tournament after his second-round victor, Rupin Rupin of India, lost in the semifinals to Ziya Babashov of Azerbaijan, 3-1.

Mikesell’s competition ended at 110 kg, when 2019 Cadet European champion Mate Gokadze of Georgia lost in the semifinals to Ramzek Kurdyan of Armenia, 3-1.

Repechage action begins at 10:30 a.m. local time (3:30 a.m. ET) live on Trackwrestling.com.
