UWW Junior Men’s Freestyle Nationals set for Las Vegas, Nev., April 26-27

The nation’s best 17-20 year olds will be taking the mats at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev., April 26-27 for the UWW Junior Freestyle Nationals. This event will feature many of both the nation’s best college underclassman and high school upperclassman.
The UWW Junior Freestyle Nationals is part of the 2019 Marine Corps U.S. Open. ‘The Open’ offers competitions in men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle, Greco-Roman, folkstyle, and women’s beach wrestling.
UWW Junior Freestyle Nationals is an important tournament for several reasons. In addition to earning All-Americans honors, the top eight place winners will qualify for the UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials in Raleigh, N.C., May 16-18. The winner of the UWW Junior Freestyle Nationals will earn an automatic berth to the best-of-three wrestle-off against the challenge tournament champion in Raleigh.
2018 UWW Junior Freestyle National champions that are eligible to return to this year’s competition include 2017 Cadet World gold medalist and 2018 Junior World silver medalist Aaron Brooks, Hagerstown, Md. (Titan Mercury WC/EAP) and 2017 Cadet World gold medalist and 2018 Cadet World silver medalist Daniel Kerkvliet, Inver Grove Heights, Minn. (Pinnacle).
Both Brooks and Kerkvliet are members of USA Wrestling’s EAP (Elite Accelerator Program). Brooks is currently entered into the 79 kg/174.2 lbs. bracket.
The UWW Junior age division is open to anyone who is born in 1999-2001 or 2002 with a medical certificate. You can still register online HERE.
UWW Junior Freestyle action will get underway Friday, April 26 and can be streamed live on FloWrestling.org.
