Molinari gets pin in repechage to reach bronze bout; Team USA to go for three World medals tonight

BUDAPEST, Hungary - Forrest Molinari (Iowa City, Iowa/Titan Mercury WC/OTC) came from behind to headlock and pin Mariia Kuznetsova of Russia, in 5:25 in her 65 kg repechage match at the Papp Laszlo SportsArena on Wednesday morning.
Kuznetsova jumped to a 4-0 lead on a throw and was able to stretch it to a 6-2 lead early in the second period. The wrestlers traded takedowns to make it 8-4 going into the final minute. Molinari aggressively forced her headlock, put Kuznetsova to her back and pressed for the fall.
Molinari will battle Iryna Netreba of Azerbaijan in the bronze-medal round on Wednesday night. Netreba placed fifth at the 2015 World Championships, while Molinari is in her first Senior World Championships.
With her win in repechage, Molinari joins two other Americans in the medal-match finals on Wednesday night.
Going for gold at 76 kg is three-time World champion Adeline Gray (Kingston, Pa./New York AC), who will face 2017 World champion Yasemin Adar of Turkey. Going for bronze at 68 kg is Tamyra Mensah-Stock (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC/OTC), who will face Olivia Di Bacco of Canada.
The finals in four weight classes will begin at 6:00 p.m. in Budapest, which is six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time zone. All of the tournament is being broadcast on TrackWrestling.
