Zac Dominguez of Papillion, Neb., and Spenser Mango of Colorado Springs, Colo., have been named the volunteer Greco-Roman coaches for the 2018 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Both will coach alongside U.S. National Team coaches Head Coach Matt Lindland, Assistant National Coach Momir Petkovic, Assistant Coach Mohammed Abdelfattah and Manager of Greco-Roman Programs Gary Mayabb.
Originally from Omaha, Neb., Dominguez is the head coach and founder of the wildly successful MWC Wrestling Academy, based in Papillion. Since starting the club, Dominguez has produced 40 college wrestlers across all divisions, 50 high school state champions and 40 USA Wrestling Freestyle and Greco-Roman All-Americans.
The MWC also sent two athletes to the 2018 Cadet World Championships this summer in Zagreb, Croatia.
Prior to the MWC Wrestling Academy, Dominguez served as the assistant coach for University Nebraska-Omaha from 2006 to 2011, where he helped produce three national champions.
Dominguez has several coaching accolades to his name. He was named 2017 Nebraska USA Wrestling Coach of the Year, 2013 USA Wrestling Developmental Coach of the Year, 2007 USA Wrestling Junior Greco-Roman Coach of the Year and 2004 Iowa USA Wrestling Coach of the Year.
His trip to Budapest will mark his third trip as a U.S. World coach and first at the Senior level. Dominguez served on the 2015 Junior World staff in Salvador, Brazil, as well as the 2017 Cadet World staff in Athens, Greece.
As an athlete, Dominguez trained out of the U.S. Olympic Training Site in Marquette, Mich., and later spent two years as a resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. He was a two-time U.S. Open placer. In 2004, Dominguez took fourth at the Olympic Trials and was fifth in the 2005 World Team Trials. Internationally, he collected a pair of top-five finishes.
He also competed for the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
Mango, originally from St. Louis, Mo., has recently taken on the coaching role after retiring from an outstanding athletic career.
He currently serves on the coaching staff for the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program, one of the top Greco clubs in the country, and has coached a number of teams on tour.
During his competitive days, Mango held onto the No. 1 spot nationally at 59 kg for eight-straight years as a two-time Olympian, representing the U.S. in the 2008 Games in Beijing and the 2012 Games in London, and a six-time World Team member. He was also a seven-time U.S. Open winner.
Internationally, Mango finished as high as fifth in the World on the Senior level, placing in 2013 and 2014. He won a University World title in 2007 and claimed a Junior World bronze in 2006.
Mango, who also trained at the Olympic Training Site in Marquette, won five Pan American medals across the Pan Am Championships, Pan Am Games and Pan Am Olympic Qualifier.
The Greco-Roman portion of the 2018 World Championships will take place Oct. 26-28 in Budapest, Hungary.
