Cohlton Schultz of the USA, competing at the 2018 Junior Worlds, seeks his second age-group World medal of the year at the U23 Worlds in Romania.

BUCHAREST, Romania – The first five U.S. competitors received their draws to kick off the 2018 U23 World Championships in Bucharest, Romania.

Competing for the USA on Monday is Dalton Duffield at 55 kg, Travis Rice at 63 kg, Jesse Porter at 77 kg, George Sikes at 87 kg and Cohlton Schultz at 130 kg.

Schultz seeks to earn his second World medal of the summer after claiming bronze at the 2018 Junior World Championships earlier this summer in Zagreb, Croatia. Schultz, a 2017 Cadet World champion, received a first-round bye and will face the winner of Andrii Vozniuk of Ukraine vs. Boban Zivanovic of Serbia.

While there are no international credentials for Vozniuk, there are some for Zivanovic, who is a 2013 Cadet World silver medalist and two-time Grand Prix of Zagreb medalist.

A two-time U23 World Team member, Jesse Porter drew reigning U23 World champion Fatih Cengiz of Turkey. Cengiz is also a 2017 Senior World bronze medalist and a 2018 University World champion.

Porter and Cengiz also met up in the first round of last year’s U23 World Championships in Poland, with Cengiz edging out the New Yorker, 2-1.

Rice returns to the World stage for the first time since his 2015 Junior World showing. To open his tournament at 63 kg, Rice will face Oleksandr Hrushyn of Ukraine, who is a two-time age-group World medalist, including a 2015 Cadet World gold and a 2017 Junior World silver. Hrushyn also won the 2018 Junior European title at 63 kg.

Duffield, a 2018 Senior National Team member, will take on Bence Kovacs of Hungary in his World Championships debut. Kovacs tallied fifth place finishes at both the World Military Championships and the U23 European Championships earlier this year.

At 87 kg, 2017 Eduardo Campbell Cup bronze winner Sikes will enter his first World Championships, taking on Anton Kurs of Belarus, who was fifth at the 2018 U23 European Championships.

The U23 World Championships will begin Monday at 10:30 a.m. local time (3:30 a.m. ET). Fans can watch all the action live on Trackwrestling.com.
