SOFIA, Bulgaria – U.S. Greco-Roman wrestler Mike Fuenffinger notched a fifth-place finish at 60 kg/132 lbs., the highest finish of the Americans at the Dan Kolov-Nikola Petrov Cup in Sofia, Bulgaria, this weekend.

Fuenffinger, who was pulled back into the repechage when 2017 World champion Kenchiro Fumita of Japan advanced to the tournament finals, picked up a win in his first repechage match, defeating Teodor Horatau of Romania.

The American moved onto the 60 kg bronze-medal match, where he met up with Ilo Iliev of Bulgaria. Fuenffinger fell short in the medal bout, losing 11-3, to take fifth and wrap up the U.S.’s tournament.
