18 year old high school girls can enter U23 National Championships in Oklahoma City, March 23-24

USA Wrestling invites girls born from 1995 through 2000 to the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City for the 2018 U23 Women's National Championships, March 23-24, 2018.

U23 age group includes girls between the ages of 18-23. Although the former University division at one point required athletes to be a high school graduates, this doesn’t apply for the U23 Division. High school girls can now enter as long as they meet the age requirement.

Winners of the U23 Nationals will earn the right to represent the United States at the U23 World Championships in Budapest, Romania, Nov. 12-18.

This event showcases the quickly growing sport of Women's Freestyle on a national stage. Last year wrestlers from 40 states participated in the Girls Folkstyle Nationals and University Women's Nationals.

This is the second year that UWW has hosted a U23 World Championships, and the division is expected to continue to grow

Top nationally ranked high school girls who qualify for the U23 National championships based upon their age include:

• No. 1 at 112 lbs. Alleida Martinez (Selma, Calif., Selma High School)
• No. 1 at 117 lbs. Alisha Howk (River Falls, Wis. River Falls High School)
• No. 1 at 127 lbs. Michaela Beck (New York, N.Y., Trevor Day High School)
• No. 1 at 132 lbs. Alexandria Liles (Allen, Texas, Allen High School)
• No. 1 at 152 lbs. Alexia Gomez (Carol Stream, Ill., Glenbard North High School)
• No. 1 at 164 lbs. Sydnee Kimber (Sitka, Alaska, Mt. Edgecumbe High School)
• No. 1 at 180 lbs. Jesse Kirby (Rixeyville, Va., Culpeper County High School)
• No. 1 at 220 lbs. Alexandra Castillo (Arleta. Calif., Birmingham Charter High School)

The U23 National Championships are being held alongside the USA Wrestling girls Folkstyle Nationals and the Junior girls Folkstyle Duals. Some high school girls may enter a number of three events.

There will also be a college recruiting fair for girls hoping to wrestle at the collegiate level. For information on the college recruiting fair, contact event director Matt Stevens at mrstevens1@okcu.edu.

9:30 a.m. – Registration and Weigh-in Card Pickup
10:00 a.m. – Weigh-ins
12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – U23: Preliminaries, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Consolations
Saturday, March 24th
10:30 a.m. – Weigh-ins (+2 kg)
1:00 p.m. – U23: Semifinals, Medal Matches, 2 out of 3 Finals, and Awards
