U.S. Cadet women receive World draws at 43 kg, 49 kg, 57 kg, 65 kg and 73 kg

ZAGREB, Croatia – The first group of U.S. women’s freestyle team received their draws for the 2018 Cadet World Championships on Tuesday in Zagreb, Croatia.
Representing USA tomorrow are Emily Shilson at 43 kg, Tiare Ikei at 49 kg, Cheyenne Bowman at 57 kg, Kiana Pugh at 65 kg and Tristan Kelly at 73 kg.
Shilson returns to the Cadet World Championships for the second year in a row and looks to improve on last year’s silver-medal finish.
A two-time Cadet Pan American champion, Shilson will face Ana Maria Cristescu of Romania in her opening match tomorrow at 43 kg. Cristescu took fifth at this year’s Cadet European Championships.
At 49 kg, 2018 Cadet Pan Am champion Ikei will start her first World Championships, taking on two-time Cadet African silver medalist Faten Ahmed of Egypt.
Bowman, a Cadet Pan Am champion, drew Anastassia Panassovich of Kazakhstan in the first round at 57 kg. Panassovish took eighth at the 2018 Cadet European Championships.
Fresh off taking bronze at the Cadet Pan Ams, Pugh will open her tournament at 65 kg against Azerbaijan’s Nigar Mizazada, who finished fifth at the Cadet Euros earlier this year.
Finally, at 73 kg, 2018 Cadet Pan Am runner-up and 2016 Schoolboy/girl Pan Am bronze medalist Kelly drew Valeria Trifonova of Russia, who took fifth at the Cadet Euros in 2017.
