Five U.S. wrestlers in UWW July Greco-Roman Ranking Series standings, with No. 10 Robby Smith top American

United World Wrestling released its July 2018 Ranking Series standings in Greco-Roman, and five U.S. wrestlers were ranked in the top 20 of their weight class.
The highest ranked American Greco-Roman wrestler was 2016 Olympian and four-time World Team member Robby Smith, who came in at No. 10 at 130 kg for the second straight time.
The 2018 season is the first in which United World Wrestling is utilizing an objective ranking system. The points acquired at continental championships and select rankings series will determine the top four seeded athletes at the 2018 World Championships in October held in Budapest.
The other four U.S. athletes who appear in the standings are Ryan Mango (No. 12 at 55 kg), Max Nowry (No. 15 at 50 kg), Ravaughn Perkins (No. 15 at 72 kg) and Ben Provisor (No. 17 at 87 kg). The five U.S. athletes were all in the rankings in May, and none of them competed in an international event since May which score points in the ranking series.
Domestic results do not count toward the UWW ranking standings. All five of the U.S. athletes in the UWW July ranking series standings placed second at the 2018 Greco-Roman World Team Trials in Tulsa, Okla. in June, and will be No. 2 on the Greco-Roman National Team for USA Wrestling in the 2018-19 season.
Hungary has three stars who are No. 1 in the standings, Balint Korpasi (72kg), Balazs Kiss (97kg) and Lam Balint (130kg)
Kazakhstan wrestlers Almat Kebispayev (67kg) and Khussein Mutsolgov (87kg) earned No.1 rankings this month. Two Kyrgyzstan wrestlers, K. Zholchubekov (60kg) and U. Amatov (63kg), remain at No.1. Other No.1-ranked wrestlers include Ekrem Ozturk (TUR) at 55kg, Mohammadali Geraei (IRI) at 77kg and Daniel Aleksandrov (BUL) at 82kg.
