Smith and Twohey claim silvers at Arvo Haavisto International in Finland

ILMAJOKI, Finland – Pat Smith and Eric Twohey both put together silver-medal finishes at the Arvo Haavisto International on Saturday in Ilmajoki, Finland.
Wrestling at 77 kg, 2017 World Team member Smith recorded a decision and a fall to advance to the finals of his weight. For the gold-medal match, Smith took 2014 Senior World champion and two-time Junior World champion Chingiz Labazanov of Russia to the very end, dropping a tight 3-1 bout to secure a silver medal.
Twohey was a finalist at 97 kg, tallying a pair of decisions to reach the finals. Facing 2018 Junior World champion Arvi Savolainen of Finland, Twohey lost, 9-0, to capture an international medal.
A handful of other American notched top-five finishes at the event, including Jamel Johnson at 67 kg, Raymond Bunker at 72 kg, Tommy Brackett at 87 kg and Trent Osnes at 130 kg.
