Oklahoma RTC Head Wrestling Coach Eric Guerrero announced on Tuesday that the OK RTC will host an event recognizing the official start of the wrestling season state-wide. Attendees of this special event will hear Coach Guerrero will speak on the OK RTC, the summer of 2017, which is being called the greatest summer in USA Wrestling history, and other state, national and global topics. Also speaking will be newly elected Chairman of OK USA Wrestling Rance Stein and Vice President of the Perry Wrestling Foundation Chance Leonard.

"The Oklahoma RTC is a unique entity that in conjunction with USA Wrestling, provides the leadership, training, coaching and opportunities necessary to help wrestlers achieve their Olympic dreams" said Coach Guerrero. "Hosting this season kick-off event at the Perry Wrestling Monument Park is an honor. This town is nationally recognized for its historic wrestling program, its consistent achievement and two of our country's greatest wrestlers - Olympic champion Jack Vanbebber and 2x Olympian and silver medalist Danny Hodge. One of our missions is to expose the next generation of Oklahoma wrestlers to greatness, so I can't think of a better place to gather in fellowship while embracing our history and heritage."

Wrestlers, coaches, families, Oklahoma USA Wrestling delegates and supporters will meet downtown on the Perry square at 11:30 am to visit and tour the Perry Wrestling Monument Park. The National anthem will be played at 12:00 pm and the speeches will follow.  There will also be a moment of silence to honor the recent passing of long time Perry resident and wrestling great Tony Macias.

"On behalf of the City of Perry and the Perry Wrestling Foundation, I want to sincerely thank Coach Guerrero for his vision and commitment to the sport of wrestling and its athletes" said Chance Leonard, Vice President of the Perry Wrestling Foundation. "We are excited for these athletes to be exposed to the Olympic movement as well as his leadership and coaching.  We are also very excited for these families to visit our community, learn about our immense wrestling history and experience the Perry Wrestling Park. It will certainly be a special day."
