Shilson, Baker, Figueroa and Boyd receive draws for Cadet Women's World Championships

ATHENS, Greece – The U.S. Cadet women’s freestyle team is set to begin its 2017 Cadet World Championships in Athens, Greece, after receiving draws for Wednesday’s competition.

Emily Shilson, a two-time Cadet freestyle national champion and two-time Junior national champion, will open her first World tournament against Aldynai Darzhaa of Russia at 43 kg/95 lbs.

2015 Cadet World Team member Vayle Baker returns to the big stage and will represent the USA at 49 kg/108 lbs., where she will face hometown favorite Maria Triantafyllidou of Greece in her first match.

2016 Cadet World bronze medalist Gracie Figueroa, who is a three-time Cadet World Team member and a 2017 Junior World teamer, will look to improve her 2016 finish, drawing Cadet Asian silver medalist Nuraida Anarkulova of Kyrgyzstan in the first round at 56 kg/123 lbs.

At 65 kg/145 lbs., two-time World Team member Alara Boyd meets up with 2017 Cadet European champion and 2016 World bronze medalist Oksana Chudyk of Ukraine.

With the new two-day format, wrestlers will compete through the semifinals in their first day of competition with repechage and medal matches to be contested the following day.

The preliminary rounds and repechage begin at 10:30 a.m. local time (3:30 a.m. ET), with semifinals beginning at 5:30 p.m. local time (10:30 a.m. ET).
