2017 Junior World Greco-Roman champion Kamal Bey made a run at a second U.S. age-group World Team by entering the U23 World Team Trials in Rochester, Minn. He went up a weight class to 80 kg, a weight where he feels comfortable. In the semifinals, he trailed Alex Meyer of the Hawkeye WC 7-2 late in the bout, but scored a five-point throw and another two-point toss to win 9-7. In the Championship Series, he stopped Tommy Brackett in two straight bouts, winning both matches with 8-0 technical falls.
