Big week: Beat the Streets, Women’s Nationals, Beach/Belt Nationals, Last Chance Qualifier, two Regionals

It will be one of the busiest weeks of the year for USA Wrestling, which has six different international, national and regional events on its schedule during the next few days.
It all starts with the USA vs. Japan Beat the Streets Benefit in Times Square in New York City, on Wednesday, May 17. Top stars from Team USA in both men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle will battle against talented opponents from Japan in one of the world’s most famous locations. Among the U.S. stars who will compete are Olympic champions Kyle Snyder, Helen Maroulis and Jordan Burroughs.
In addition, there will be a pair of special challenge matches. On the Senior level, U.S. Open champion Jordan Oliver will battle World champion and Olympic medalist Frank Chamizo of Italy, while high school stars Daton Fix of Oklahoma and Austin DeSanto of Pennsylvania will also square off.
Action begins at 3:00 p.m, with Beat the Streets youth matches, followed at 4:30 p.m. by the NYC PSAL Girls Dual Meet Championships. Starting at 6:00 p.m. will be the USA vs. Japan dual meet, plus the special challenge matches. The event will be broadcast by Flowrestling.
USA Wrestling hosts a pair of national championship events over the weekend, both which help set U.S. World Teams for competition later in the year.
The Women’s National Championships return to Irving, Texas, May 20-21. Formerly known as the Body Bar Nationals, this major age-group women’s freestyle competition will set the U.S. World Team in two age divisions, the UWW Juniors (ages 17-20) and the UWW Cadets (ages 15-17). In addition, there will be national championships on the Schoolgirl level, along with two youth age groups. This has been a growing competition, with women age-group wrestlers from all over the United States competing.
The UWW Junior World Championships are set for August 1-6 in Tampere, Finland, while the UWW Cadet World Championships will be held in Athens, Greece, September 5-10.
The event will be broadcast by Flowrestling.
Athletes can still register online to compete at the Women’s Nationals, with a deadline of Wednesday, May 17 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. On-site walkup registration will also be available.

The U.S. Beach and Belt Nationals return to Carolina Beach, N.C. on Saturday, May 20. The age groups in which there will be Beach competition includes Senior (men and women), Veterans, Junior, Cadet, Schoolboy/girl, Novice, Intermediate, Bantam. The Belt Nationals will be held right on Carolina Beach alongside the Beach Nationals, and all Beach wrestlers can add an entry in the Belt tournament for just $10.
The UWW Beach World Championships will be held in Europe in September, although UWW has not yet announced the site and dates. Athletes will be able to represent the USA at the Senior, Junior and Cadet levels at the Beach Worlds. There are two Belt World Championships on the UWW schedule this summer, the Alysh style in Wroclaw, Poland, July 26-30 and the Kuresh style in Astana, Kazakhstan, August 18-21.

The Last Chance World Team Trials Qualifier, which features Senior-level men’s freestyle competition, is set for Rochester, Minn., May 20-21. The highest-placed athlete in each of the eight Senior weight classes who have yet to qualify will earn a spot in the 2017 Freestyle World Team Trials in Lincoln, Neb. on June 10.
Four weight classes will be contested on Saturday (57 kg, 61 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg) and four weight classes will be contested on Sunday (74 kg, 86 kg, 97 kg, 125 kg). The event will be broadcast by Flowrestling.
Athletes can still register online to compete at the Last Chance World Team Trials Qualifier, with a deadline of Thursday, May 18 at 10:00 p.m. Central time. On-site walkup registration will also be available.

The Northern Plains Regional Championships, will be held alongside the Last Chance World Team Trials Qualifier, in Rochester, Minn., May 19-21. This annual Regional Championships will feature freestyle and Greco-Roman competition at the Junior, Girls, Cadet, Schoolboy/girl, Novice, Intermediate and Bantam age-groups. The competition will be broadcast by TrackCast.
Athletes can still register online to compete at the Northern Plains Regionals, with a deadline of Wednesday, May 17 at 11:59 p.m. Central time. On-site walkup registration will also be available.
