TEMPE, Ariz. – Several members of the Pac-12 champion Arizona State wrestling team as well as the coaching staff embarked Wednesday on a 12-day foreign trip (May 10-21) to Cuba.

The team will stay in Havana and, of significant importance, will have a chance to train with and compete against the Cuban National Team while there.

The trip is part of a cultural exchange effort between ASU and the country of Cuba.

Ten wrestlers will represent the Sun Devils on the trip including All-Americans Tanner Hall and Zahid Valencia, Pac-12 champions Josh Maruca, Josh Shields, and Anthony Valencia, as well as Jacen Petersen, Jason Tsirtsis, Josh Kramer, Christian Pagdilao, and Cory Crooks.

Every four years, NCAA teams are allowed to take a foreign tour to a destination to practice and compete, while also enjoying a variety of team bonding activities and immersing themselves in the culture.

Updates on the trip will be available on Twitter (@ASUWrestling), Facebook (Sun Devil Wrestling), and Instagram (sundevilwrestling1962) as technology allows, as well as on TheSunDevils.com upon the team's return.
