UPDATE: The Last Chance Qualifier in Rochester, Minn., May 19-21 is final World Team Trials qualifier

The Last Chance World Team Trials Qualifier will be held alongside the Northern Plains Regional at the RCTC Regional Sports Center in Rochester, Minn., May 19-21.

Senior men’s freestyle wrestlers from across the nation will be able to compete for the final spot in the field for the U.S. World Team Trials to be held June 9-10 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The highest placed athlete per weigh class who has yet to qualify will earn a spot in the 2017 World Team Trials. 

Weigh-ins for 51 kg, 61 kg, 65 kg, and 70 kg will occur Friday, May 19 at 5:30 pm in the RCTC Sports Center. These weight classes will be contested on Saturday.

Weigh-ins for 74 kg, 86 kg, 97 kg, 125 kg will take place Saturday, May 20 at 5:30 in the RCTC Sports Center. These weights will be contested on Sunday.

The event is open to all athletes, who are Senior-eligible and are a U.S. citizen. Entries need a current USA Wrestling card.

This is the last chance to qualify for the Freestyle World Team Trials.

Currently there are 75 athletes who have qualified for the World Team Trials. Many top college athletes and Senior freestyle wrestlers are expected to compete in Rochester. Click here for a list of World Team Trials qualifiers.

Below is a list, by weight, of prominent wrestlers who have not yet qualified for the World Team Trials. This does not mean they will attend the Last Chance Qualifier, but if they want to compete in Lincoln, they need to go to Rochester and win.

The Northern Plains Regional will wrestle side-by-side with the World Team Trials hopefuls with Bantam, Intermediate, Novice, Schoolboy/girl, Cadet, Girls, and Junior being contested over three days.

Kid’s division is open to wrestlers from any state. However, only wrestlers from a Northern Plains Region state that participate will qualify for the Asics/USAW Nationals at this event.

Wrestlers from any state for Cadet and Junior division are eligible to compete in this event in this division. Cadets can qualify for their state’s Cadet and Junior Asics/Vaughan National Championship teams.
