U.S. has received men’s and women’s freestyle draws for Outstanding Ukrainian Memorial on Friday

Olympic champion Helen Maroulis, shown at 2015 Worlds, will compete for the first time since winning her historic gold at the Rio Olympic Games.
KIEV, Ukraine – Men and women freestyle wrestlers from the United States have weighed in and received their draws at the Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial, which begins on Friday.
Among those competing on Friday is 2016 Olympic champion Helen Maroulis (Rockville, Md./Sunkist Kids), who is competing at 60 kg/132 lbs., and opens with Mariia Ilchyshyn of Ukraine, who was ninth in 2015 Junior World Championships
Maroulis is competing for the first time since winning her Olympic title at the 2016 Rio Games, down at 53 kg/116.5 lbs.
Also at 60 kg/132 lbs. is 2016 World silver medalist Alli Ragan (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids), who drew 2015 Cadet World champion Anhelina Lysak of Ukraine in her first match. Ragan and Maroulis are on opposite sides of the bracket, and could only meet if they both reach the finals.
Two other past U.S. World Team members will compete in women’s freestyle on Friday, 2013 World Team member Victoria Anthony (Tempe, Ariz./Sunkist Kids) at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. and 2016 World Team member Sarah Hildebrandt (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC/OTC) at 55 kg/121 lbs.
Anthony opens against three-time European Cadet champion Katharina Baumgartner of Germany in the quarterfinals. Hildebrandt has also drawn into the quarterfinal round, where she battles two-time Cadet World cham pion Olena Kremzer of Ukraine in her first match.
Seven U.S. men’s freestyle wrestlers will also compete Friday, and they have received their first-round draw.
At 74 kg/163 lbs., National Team member Alex Dieringer (Stillwater, Okla./Titan Mercury WC) will open against Rustam Rasuiev of Ukraine.
The U.S. has four entries at 97 kg/213 lbs. A pair of USOTC resident athletes have drawn each other in the first round, Micah Burak (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC) and Dustin Kilgore (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids). Kilgore was an NCAA champion at Kent State, while Burak was an All-American for the Univ. of Pennsylvania.
Also at 97 kg/213 lbs. are Nathan Burak (Iowa City, Iowa/Hawkeye WC) and Kallen Kleinschmidt (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC). Nathan Burak will battle Sergiy Mokhort of Ukraine, while Kleinschmidt has drawn two-time World bronze medalist Pavlo Oliynyk of Ukraine. Burak was an All-American for the Univ. of Iowa, while Kleinschmidt competed for North Dakota State and North Idaho JC.
Frank Perrelli (Charlottesville, Va./Titan Mercury WC) has drawn Dzimchyk Rynchynau of Belarus at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. Perrelli was an All-American for Cornell.
Competing at 65 kg/143 lbs. is Evan Henderson (Chapel Hill, N.C./North Carolina RTC) who will compete against Andrei Perpelisa of Moldova. Henderson wrestled for North Carolina. Perpelisa was fifth in the 2014 World Championships.
