Thomas Gilman takes down Ramos and punches ticket to Paris

Thomas Gilman (Iowa City, Iowa/Titan Mercury WC) put together a perfect day on Saturday, going 6-0 at the U.S. World Team Trials to earn the World spot at 57 kg/125 lbs. Gilman avenged a NCAA semifinals loss to Darian Cruz to start the day. before taking out top-seeded Tyler Graff, 1-1. He moved on to the the challenge bracket finals after an 11-0 technical fall against Nico Megaludis in the semis. There, he faced Nathan Tomasello, who he beat with a solid 6-2 win to earn the chance to take on two-time World Team member Tony Ramos in the best-of-three finals series. Gilman escaped Ramos in the first match, 4-3, and went on to take the second bout with a dominant 7-2 decision.
