On Tuesday, March 14th at 7:00 pm at Historic Union Station in St. Louis, Mo., the second Missouri Border Brawl will take place, pitting the best high school seniors from Missouri vs. an All-Star team of high school seniors from the 8 bordering states (Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Oklahoma & Tennessee).

This event will kick off NCAA Div. I Wrestling Week, which will be held in St. Louis again this year.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation (www.xcgif.org). The doors open at 5:00pm. Food, drinks and a silent auction full of unique wrestling items will be available.

The Border Brawl is the creation of David Mirikitani, former assistant wrestling coach at St Louis CC at Meramec and current NCAA rankings coordinator for Trackwrestling.

“My father Ron has run the East-West All Metro Classic with the best seniors from the St Louis, Mo. and Illinois metropolitan schools for over 30 years. We were talking about how to run a similar event in conjunction with St Louis hosting the NCAA Division I Nationals. I contacted Chris Roseman from the St Louis Sports Commission and from there things fell into place fairly quickly. Randy Couture is a great friend who I had partnered together on a previous charity project and this event just felt like another opportunity to raise money to support our returning veterans with disabilities and amputations,” said Mirikitani.

Tickets for this event are on sale at www.cagetix.com/mbb2017 for $20, $25 and $30. VIP tickets are $60 and include food and drinks the entire evening.

People interested in donating money or items for the silent auction can do so by calling or texting 314-550-4186, emailing dmirikitani@gmail.com or posting a message at our facebook page Missouri Border Brawl 2017.

The 2015 inaugural event featured such future stars as:

• Markus Simmons now at Iowa State

• Max Thomsen now at UNI

• Jaydin Eirmann now at Missouri

• Joe Smith and Kaid Brock both wrestling for Oklahoma State.

This year’s Missouri lineup includes Cameron and Colin Valdiviez from Rockhurst, Alec Hagan from Eureka, Brit Wison from Mexico and Jake Boyd from Smithville.

The Border lineup features Patrick Brucki (Carl Sandburg IL), Marcus Coleman (Ames IA), Austin O’Connor (St Rita IL), Jason Renteria (Oak Park River Forest IL), Kaden Gfeller (Heritage Hall OK) and two time junior world bronze medalist Daton Fix (Sand Springs OK).

The event also features top six nationally ranked freestyle wrestlers:

• Joey Lazor vs Josh Kindig at 61 kg

• Nahshon Garrett vs Alan Waters at 57 kg

• Jordan Oliver vs an opponent to be determined at 70 kg

“We are incredibly excited about the lineups and matchups we have put together. One of the many things I love about wrestlers is that they welcome the challenge of competing against the best. I want to thank all the guys for their participation, especially Alan (Waters), Nahshon (Garrett), Joey (Lazor), Josh (Kindig) and Jordan (Oliver). I know these guys will put on a show,” said Mirikitani.

Fans should not wait to get their tickets and make plans to attend.

“We are expecting to sell the event out but we still have some tickets available. With the meet being held in the host hotel this is an excellent opportunity to see some of the best college coaches in the country watching some incredible high level wrestling,” he said.

If you are unable to attend the event but want to watch, it will be streamed live on www.trackwrestling.com as a $10 stand alone pay per view event, with proceeds going to the charity as well.

There are already some amazing items secured for our silent auction, and they are still gathering amazing items daily. This has been a true labor of love that is only possible through the work of many volunteers. Thank you to everyone for making this event possible
