U.S. wrestlers weigh-in at Freestyle World Cup; UWW announces modified competition schedule

United World Wrestling has announced slight adjustments to the 2017 Freestyle World Cup schedule that will move the final round of group action from Thursday evening to Friday morning, in addition to changing the start time for both days to 9 a.m. local time.
The change in schedule will move the U.S. dual against Azerbaijan to Friday morning at 10:15 a.m. local time. The U.S. matches against Georgia and Russia will still take place on Thursday with the USA-Georgia dual set for 10:15 a.m. local time followed by the USA-Russia dual at 6:15 p.m. local time.

The U.S. men all weighed-in for the World Cup on Wednesday evening in Iran and are prepared to take on the challenge this event presents.
2012 Olympic champion and three-time World champion Jordan Burroughs will be competing at the World Cup this week in his first competition since the 2016 Olympic Games.
“We just finished weigh-ins. Everything went well, and now we’re heading back to the hotel to get our first meal and get replenished, rehydrated and read for tomorrow. Competition starts bright and early. We’re looking forward to it,” Burroughs said following weigh-ins.
2016 Olympic champion and 2015 World champion Kyle Snyder is looking to follow up his dominating performance at the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix with another undefeated World Cup run.
“I feel good, ready to wrestle. Everybody is down to weight. Everybody is ready to compete and represent the United State to the best of our abilities tomorrow” Snyder said.
U.S. freestyle coach Bill Zadick is coaching his first World Cup as the head man of the U.S. freestyle program and is excited for the task at hand.
“We’re very excited. It’s great to be here in Iran and wrestle in one of the hearts of the sport, maybe the most passionate, knowledgeable fans in the world. We have a very strong team and a very tough pool, so we’re going to need all of our horses to come through,” Zadick said.
Those wishing to watch the Freestyle World Cup live can do so at unitedworldwrestling.org both days of competition. Kermanshah, Iran is situated eight hours and thirty minutes ahead of U.S. Eastern Time translating to start times of 12:30 a.m. (ET) on both Thursday and Friday.
