2016 World Champion Logan Stieber (Columbus, Ohio/Titan Mercury WC/Ohio RTC) and 2016 Olympic Champion Kyle Snyder (Woodbine, Md./Titan Mercury WC/Ohio RTC) remain No. 1 in the World rankings in Men’s freestyle, as released by United World Wrestling today.

Snyder had a good start to the new year when he dominated the 97 kg/215.5 lbs. weight class to win the gold medal at the Ivan Yarygin Memorial in Krasnoyarsk, Russia on January 29. He was the first U.S. men’s freestyle wrestler since 2009 to win the tournament, when Steve Mocco was the heavyweight champion.

Stieber last wrestled when he won his World gold medal in Budapest, Hungary in December.

The United States had 13 wrestlers ranked in men’s freestyle in February, with seven holding top 10 rankings.

J’den Cox (Columbia, Mo./Titan Mercury WC/MWF), a 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, remains at No. 4 in the rankings at 96 kg/213 lbs. Cox is currently competing in his senior year at Missouri, seeking a third career NCAA title. He has not wrestled in freestyle since the Rio Olympic Games.

Two U.S. wrestlers remain at No. 6 at their weight classes, Frank Molinaro (State College, Pa./Nittany Lion WC/Titan Mercury) at 65 kg/143 lbs. and Tervel Dlagnev (Columbus, Ohio (Sunkist Kids/Ohio RTC) at 125 kg/275 lbs. Both were fifth at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and neither has competed since Rio.

Also remaining at No. 7 at 74 kg/163 lbs. is 2016 Olympian Jordan Burroughs (Lincoln, Neb./Sunkist Kids/Nebraska RTC). A 2012 Olympic champion and three-time World champion, Burroughs placed ninth at the Rio Olympics and has not competed since then.

Coming in No. 8 at 70 kg/154 lbs. is James Green (Lincoln, Neb./Titan Mercury WC/Nebraska RTC), who placed seventh at his weight class at the 2016 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, and has not competed since.

After placing third at the Paris International, B.J. Futrell (Philadelphia, Pa./Titan Mercury WC/Pennsylvania RTC) moved up to three spots to No. 13 at 65 kg/143 lbs.

Dropping two spots in the rankings from last month is No. 20 Alan Waters at 61 kg/134 lbs. Waters last competed in the Dave Schultz Memorial International in Colorado Springs, Colo. at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. this past weekend, where he did not medal.

After a stellar performance from the U.S. men’s freestyle team at the Paris International six wrestlers have been added to this month’s UWW rankings. At No. 18 are Nico Megaludis (State College, Pa./Nittany Lion WC/Titan Mercury) at 57 kg, Kyle Dake (Ithaca, N.Y./ Titan Mercury WC/Finger Lakes RTC) at 74 kg, and David Taylor (State College, Pa./Nittany Lion WC) at 86 kg.

Following them at No. 19 are Richard Perry (Philadelphia, Pa./New York AC/Pennsylvania RTC) at 86 kg and Zachery Rey (Bethlehem, Pa./Lehigh Valley WC) at 125 kg, along with No. 20 Alex Dieringer (Stillwater, Okla./Titan Mercury WC) at 74 kg.

Megaludis, Dake, and Taylor all took home gold medals from the Paris International in Paris, France, Jan. 28-29. Dieringer and Perry won silver medals in Paris and Futrell and Rey added bronzes.
