- 2016 University World silver medalist Demeu Zhadrayev (Kazakhstan) dec. World and European champion Balint Korpasi (Hungary), 1-1.

- 2015 World champion Frank Staebler (Germany) dec. 2016 World silver medalist Daniel Cataraga (Moldova), 4-2.

- 2016 University World silver medalist Demeu Zhadrayev (Kazakhstan) defeats 2015 World bronze medalist Adam Kurak (Russia), 6-2.

- Pat Smith (United States) was strong in the early goings against Nurgazy Asangulov (Kyrgyzstan), leading approaching the end of one. Asangulov struck with a headlock at the end of the first period, then added on a four-pointer from rear standing in the second frame to win by an 8-2 tally.

- African champion Ibrahim Ghanem (Egypt) edged World bronze medalist Ilie Cojocari (Romania), 2-1.

Round of 32

- Pat Smith (United States) defeats Matous Morbitzer (Czech Republic), 5-0. Smith scored two step outs, one takedown and one passivity point to take the bout.

- Mohammadali Geraei (Iran) upsets Olympic bronze medalist Shmagi Bolkvadze (Georgia), 3-2.

- The battle of World champions Frank Staebler (Germany) and Rasul Chunayev (Azerbaijan) goes to Staebler, 2-1. All points scored were on passivity.

Round of 64

- Evrik Nikoghosyan (France) pins 2015 World bronze medalist Zackarias Tallroth (Sweden) first round with front headlock roll to the back.

Quarterfinals

- In a rematch of the 2012 Olympic finals, Tamas Lorincz (Hungary) exacted revenge against Hyeon-Woo Kim (Korea), 3-1.

Round of 32

- Viktor Nemes (Serbia) defeats World champion and Olympic bronze medalist Saeid Abdevali (Iran), 2-1.

- Shohei Yabiku (Japan) defeats World bronze medalist Hasan Aliyev (Azerbaijan), 4-0.

- Mason Manville (United States) falls to Mindia Tsulukidze (Georgia), 4-2. Tsulukidze was awarded three passivity points during regulation. Manville scored the only takedown of the bout. A late takedown attempt from Manville was unsuccessful, with a lost challenge, to give Tsulukidze his fourth point after time expired.

Round of 64

- Mason Manville (United States) defeats Manfred Edsberg (Sweden), 4-2. Manville scored two passivity points in the first period. In second period, Edsberg scored two on front headlock roll deemed a correct throw, then was caught on his back by Manville, who scored two.

- Olympic bronze medalist Denis Kudla (Germany) dec. Asian champion Hossein Nouri (Iran), 4-1.

- European silver medalist Metehan Basar (Turkey) dec. Olympic champion Davit Chakvetadze (Russia), 4-2.

Quarterfinals

- Asian champion Hossein Nouri (Iran) took down European champion Viktor Lorincz (Hungary), 6-4.

Round of 32

- Oleksandr Shyshman (Ukraine) defeats Ben Provisor (United States), 6-2. Provisor led the match 2-2 on criteria late, but was thrown for four points with under 10 seconds remaining.

Round of 64

- European silver medalist Metehan Basar (Turkey) defeats Olympic bronze medalist Javid Hamzatau (Belarus), 7-0.

- 2013 Junior World champion Musa Evloev (Russia) gets past 2014 World champion Melonin Noumonvi (France), 2-1.

Round of 16

- Olympic champion and two-time World champion Artur Aleksanyan (Armenia) defeats Tracy Hancock (United States), 10-1. Hancock kept it close into the middle stages of the second period, only trailing 3-1. Aleksanyan tacked on a four-pointer and a match-clinching takedown to separate himself in the end.

Round of 32

- G’ Angelo Hancock (United States) looks solid in 3-0 win against University World champion Fatih Baksoy (Turkey). Hancock scored on two passivity points and one step out.

- 2014 World champion Melonin Noumonvi (France) defeats European silver medalist Aliaksandr Hrabovic (Belarus), 3-1.

- 2013 Junior World champion Musa Evloev (Russia) defeats 2013 World bronze medalist Balazs Kiss (Hungary), 3-1.
