Newly crowned Olympic champions Helen Maroulis and Kyle Snyder will return to their home state of Maryland on Oct. 1 to participate in the Maryland State Wrestling Association’s fourth annual Coaches’ Clinic.
Last month, Maroulis became the first American woman to win an Olympic gold in wrestling, while Kyle Snyder became the youngest American to win an Olympic gold in wrestling at 20 years old.
Maroulis is from Rockville, Md., and attended Magruder High School. Snyder is from Woodbine, Md., and starred at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School.
Maroulis and Snyder will put on a free clinic open to high-school aged wrestlers and below, beginning at 4 p.m. Wrestlers interested in attending must register online.
The coaches’ clinic will also feature Virginia Tech head coach Kevin Dresser as well as Maryland native and Brown University head coach Todd Beckerman, in addition to many others.
The day will conclude with an awards banquet, honoring Maroulis and Snyder. Also honored are Maryland’s All-Americans, Triple Crown winners and Eareckson Award Recipient, Alan Meltzer.
Four other Maryland Olympic wrestlers will be in attendance, including Kerry McCoy (2000, 04), Rob Eiter (1996), Lloyd Keaser (1976), and Ernie Fischer (1956).
Coaches and wrestlers interested in attending the clinic can register here. Registration is open until Sept. 25.
