Andrew Howe joins the coaching staff at Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. – Decorated collegiate and international wrestler Andrew Howe will join the Northwestern wrestling program as an assistant coach, head coach Matt Storniolo announced Tuesday.
Howe comes to Evanston after serving as an assistant at Oklahoma for the past two seasons.
"Andrew was a dominant wrestler during his career, and he is now one of the best young assistants in the sport," Storniolo said. "There is not a doubt in my mind that Andrew will help take Northwestern wrestling to new heights.”
The 2010 national champion at 165 lbs. wrestled his senior season at Oklahoma in 2014 after three years at Wisconsin. He was dominant at both schools, racking up four All-America honors and winning three Big Ten titles, while compiling a 122-10 career record. He never finished lower than third at the NCAA Championships.
Howe has also had success on the world stage, winning the 2010 U.S. Open freestyle championship. He was a 2009 junior world bronze medalist and a runner-up at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympic trials.
The Cedar Lake, Ind. native was a three-time Indiana high school state champion and posted a 192-1 record.
Howe also brings a strong academic pedigree to Northwestern as he was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team and the NWCA Division I All-Academic Team in 2014.
