IRVING, Texas – With victories in the best-of-three Championships Series, four talented freestyle wrestlers earned spots on the 2016 UWW Junior World Team for the United States on Saturday.

2015 Junior World champion Spencer Lee of Young Guns, from Pennsylvania, was dominant, winning both of his finals matches with first-period technical falls over 2015 Cadet Triple Crown winner Mosha Schwartz of SOT from Colorado at 50 kg/110 lbs.

Lee had two takedowns and three two-point turns for a 10-0 technical fall in match one. In the second round, a takedown and two ankle laces were followed by a four-point takedown for another 10-0 technical fall.

At 66 kg/145.5 lbs., UWW Junior National champion Alec Pantaleo of the Michigan RTC swept his finals series, defeating Matthew Kolodzik of the Princeton Amateur Wrestling Society in the finals. He was dominant on his feet in both matches, winning 10-2 in the first match and 6-0 in bout two. It was a rematch of the UWW Junior Nationals finals, also won by Pantaleo. Pantaleo is an All-American for Michigan, while Kolodzik competes for Princeton.

In the two highest weight classes, the 2016 UWW Junior Nationals champion were defeated by the winners of the Challenge Tournament.

At 96 kg/211.5 lbs., Kollin Moore of the Ohio RTC-Titan Mercury WC stopped UWW Junior Nationals champion Jacob Seely of the Northern Colorado RTC in two straight bouts. Moore scored four takedowns, including a four-pointer, for an 11-1 technical fall in the first match. In bout two, Moore scored key second period takedowns to lead 9-3, and closed out a 9-7 win. Moore competes for Ohio State and was seventh at the UWW Nationals. Seely, who attends Northern Colorado, placed second in the UWW Junior World Trials for the second straight year.

2014 Cadet World silver medalist Jordan Wood of the Lehigh Valley WC won two straight over UWW Junior Nationals champion Rylee Streifel of the Minnesota Storm. Wood did not allow a point, winning the first match by a 5-0 decision, then tacking on an 11-0 technical fall in bout two.

The final four weight classes will be contested on Sunday, 55 kg. 60 kg, 74 kg and 84 kg. The tournament will be broadcast live on Trackwrestling.com
