Snyder, Stieber, Perry among 13 U.S. freestylers who have draws for day one of Medved International

World champion Kyle Snyder is among 13 Americans compete in Belarus on Thursday.
MINSK, Belarus – 2015 World champion Kyle Snyder (Woodbine, Md./Titan Mercury WC) is among the 13 U.S. freestyle wrestlers who have weighed in and received their draws for the Alexander Medved International, which starts on Thursday.
Snyder drew veteran Magomed Ibragimov of Uzbekistan in his first match. Ibragimov has won a silver and a bronze medal at the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix in Russia, one of the world’s toughest tournaments.
Four-time NCAA champion and past Junior World silver medalist Logan Stieber (Columbus, Ohio/Titan Mercury WC/Ohio RTC) will open up against B.J. Futrell (Ann Arbor, Mich./Titan Mercury WC/Cliff Keen WC) in the first round. Last week, the two competed against each other in the second round at the Outstanding Ukrainian Memorial in Kiev, where Stieber earned a 4-2 win. Futrell was a 2014 University World silver medalist.
Also competing at 74 kg/163 lbs. is 2016 U.S. Open runner-up and two-time NCAA champion Chris Perry, (Stillwater, Okla./Titan Mercury WC), who has drawn Ali Reza Ghasemi of Iran, who was fifth in 2015 World Championships. Perry faced Ghasemi earlier this winter at the Grand Prix of Paris, where he scored an 8-5 win in the bronze-medal bout.
Along with Stieber and Perry, other past NCAA champions wrestling on Thursday are Kellen Russell (Ann Arbor, Mich./New York AC/CKWC) at 65 kg/143 lbs., Frank Molinaro (State College, Pa./Nittany Lion WC) at 65 kg/143 lbs., Dustin Kilgore (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) at 97 kg/213 lbs. and Kyven Gadson (Ames, Iowa/Sunkist Kids) at 97 kg/213 lbs.
Also wrestling on Thursday is 2012 Olympian Sam Hazewinkel, Norman, Okla. (Sunkist Kids) at 57 kg/125.5 lbs
