King holds No. 1 in rankings going into this weekend’s WCWA Women’s College Nationals in Oklahoma

Can King University get a three-peat? Jason Moorman’s Tornadoes hold a No. 1 team ranking heading into the WCWA Women’s College Nationals in Oklahoma City, Okla., February 12-13. King has won the last two national titles and been at No. 1 most of this season.


King came out with 121 points in this ranking, 30 points ahead of No. 2 ranked and host Oklahoma City at 91 points. Rounding out the top five are No. 3 Simon Fraser, No. 4 Campbellsville and No. 5 the University of the Cumberlands. The top three are the same as in January, but Campbellsville jumped past the Cumberlands to move into No. 4 this month.


Rounding out the top 10 are No. 6 McKendree, No. 7 Lindenwood, No. 8 Wayland Baptist, No. 9 Jamestown and No. 10 Menlo.


The 10 individual No. 1 ranked wrestlers are unchanged from the January rankings.


Oklahoma City has the most at No. 1 with three straight weight classes: junior Cody Pfau (109), junior Rachel Archer (116) and freshman Becka Leathers (123).


King and Simon Fraser each have two at No. 1. For King, senior Ashley Iliff (101) and freshman Hanna Jewell (136) are top ranked, while Simon Fraser boasts No. 1 wrestlers junior Mallory Velte (143) and sophomore Payten Smith (191).


Others at No. 1 include sophomore Kayla Miracle of Campbellsville (130), freshman Jessika Rottier of the University of the Cumberlands (155) and senior Victoria Francis of Lindenwood (170).


Among the No. 1 athletes, Pfau, Miracle and Francis are returning national champions.
