Men’s Freestyle Trials Qualification Update: Last Chance Qualifier and Wildcard Process

As we approach finalizing the World Team Trials qualification process, here an update on what’s going on the next two weeks.

Northern Plains Regional – Waterloo, IA (May 14-16, 2015)
Last chance qualifier
Champions from this event will qualifier for the Men’s Freestyle World Team Trials in Madison, WI
o CHAMPIONS FROM THIS REGIONAL CAN CHOOSE TO COMEPTE AT ANY WEIGHT AT THE WORLD TEAM TRIALS. (Example – the champion from the 74 KG weight may compete at 70 KG at the trials, if he so chooses)
Wildard Deadline – Wednesday, May 20, 2015
Applicants must email wildcard applications to Cody Bickley at cbickley@usawrestling.org by close of business day May 20th (5:00 pm – Mountain Time)
Information to include in the email:
o Name
o Weight class applying for
o Wild card criteria the athlete meets in order to apply
o Give a rundown of the events & results the athlete has competed in since the completion of the 2014 World Team Trials
o Other significant freestyle accomplishments
Wildcard announcements will occur on Friday, May 22nd, 2015
In order to apply for a wild card, applicants must meet one of the numbered criteria below. Those individuals that do not meet any of the stated criteria will not be considered for a wildcard into the 2015 Men’s Freestyle World Team Trials.
1. Top 3 finisher from the 2013 or 2014 Freestyle World Team Trials (Senior)
2. Champion from a Senior-level North American or Pan American United World Wrestling International competition from May 1, 2013 up to the 2015 World Team Trials
3. Top 3 finisher from the 2012 Freestyle Olympic Trials
4. Top 3 finisher from the 2015 NCAA I Championships
