Teasdale, Olivas, Reenan win Pan American Junior freestyle titles in Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba - The United States had three individual champions and two silver medalists at the 2015 Pan American Junior Championships in men’s freestyle on Friday, May 8.
Gold medalists included Gavin Teasdale of Pennsylvania at 50 kg, Cade Olivas of California at 55 kg and Nicholas Reenan of Texas at 74 kg.
All of the U.S. men athletes competed in both freestyle and Greco-Roman this week. For Reenan, it was his second gold medal of the week, as he was also Greco-Roman champion on Wednesday.
All three American champions beat Cuban opponents. Teasdale beat Yadisney Portales Segura of Cuba, 5-5 in a wild finals match. Olivas and Reenan beat Cubans in the semifinals.
Olivas beat Tomy Garsia of the Dominican Republic in the finals. Reenan beat Carlos Izquierdo of Colombia in the finals, 6-0.
Pennsylvania natives Chris Weiler at 84 kg and Michael Rogers at 120 kg won silver medals
United States to earn the second place spot among the other 15 teams in the competition, with 60 points, behind team champion Cuba. Venezuela placed third with 41 points.
Danny Boychuck of New Jersey placed fifth at 66 kg and Ethan Anderson of Iowa placed sixth at 96 kg.
