Randy “The Natural” Couture, a wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts legend, will be the focus of the Annual Myron Roderick NCAA Champions Roast hosted by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club.
The roast will be held Thursday, March 19 at the St. Louis City Center Hotel in St. Louis, Mo., starting at 10:00 p.m. CT. This follows the second session of action at the 2015 NCAA Div. I Wrestling Championships.
“The roast idea was proposed to us by Wayne Boyd and Wade Schalles in 2012 as a fun event that would be of interest to those fans and wrestling alumni who attend the NCAA Championships. They wanted to name it after the late Myron Roderick who was a natural roaster of wrestling alumni. The first two roast events featured wrestling icons Dan Gable and Bobby Douglas. This year, the wrestling star selected for the hot seat is Randy Couture. Randy’s popular appeal stretches far beyond collegiate and Greco-Roman wrestling to MMA and Hollywood with his experience on the big screen and appearance on Dancing with the Stars. It should be a great evening of entertainment after an exciting first day of action at the NCAA Championships,” said Lee Roy Smith, Executive Director of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Couture’s athletic career flourished as a wrestler, making the NCAA finals for Oklahoma State, and competing on a number of U.S. Greco-Roman World Teams. He turned his focus to Mixed Martial Arts, where he was a three-time UFC champion and one of the true legends of the sport.
The Master of Ceremonies will be actor and wrestling leader Billy Baldwin. Couture will be roasted by other legends in wrestling including Dan Henderson, Royce Alger, Chael Sonnen, Rulon Gardner, Nate Carr, Wade Schalles, Jim Rameriz, Wayne Boyd and Scott Casber.
It will be an evening of fun, as Randy Couture will find out just what his wrestling friends truly think about him and his career. You won’t want to miss it.
You can order your tickets in advance for just $10 each and they will be waiting for you at will call when you arrive.
