Dual meet pairings set for Freestyle World Cup in Los Angeles, April 11-12

The dual meet pairings for each session have been finalized for the Freestyle Wrestling World Cup, which will be held at the Forum, presented by Chase, April 11-12 in Inglewood, Calif.
“We are very excited about this year’s Freestyle World Cup pairings. There will be outstanding dual meets during all four sessions. Team USA should compete in every session, allowing our fans a chance to support our wrestlers in all of their bouts. Each session, fans will be able to enjoy the best of international wrestling, with World powers Russia and Iran also showcased. This is a must-see event for sports fans,” said USA Wrestling National Events Director Pete Isais.
The United States has drawn into Group A, along with Russia, Cuba and Mongolia. At the 2014 World Championships, Russia placed first, Cuba placed fifth, Mongolia placed sixth and the USA placed ninth.
Team USA will wrestle twice on the opening day, Saturday, April 11. In Session I, the USA will battle Pan American rival Cuba at 3:00 p.m. PT on Mat A. In Session II, the USA will face World champion Russia at 6:30 p.m. on Mat A.
On day two, Sunday, April 12, the USA will have two more matches. In Session III, the pool competition will be concluded and Team USA will face Asian power Mongolia at 11:00 a.m.
The dual meet pairings have also been set for Group B, which includes Iran, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Turkey. At the 2014 World Championships, Iran was second, Turkey was third, Azerbaijan was fourth and Belarus was seventh.
In one of the highly anticipated matches in Group B, Iran will take on Turkey on Saturday, April 11 in Session II at 6:30 p.m.
The medal matches will be determined based upon the results in each pool. The winning teams of each pool will compete for first place; second place in each pool will compete for third place; third place in each pool will compete for fifth place and fourth place in each pool will compete for seventh place.
On Sunday, the fifth and seventh place dual meets will be held during Session III at 2:00 p.m. The first and third placed dual meets will be held during Session IV, with third place at 4:15 p.m. and first place at 5:45 p.m.
The 2014 Freestyle World Cup were also held in Los Angeles, with Iran winning the team title, Russia placing second and the United States in third.
All-Session tickets are available, as well as Single-Day tickets. Fans can purchase All-Session tickets for $60 for General Admission and $85 for Preferred Seating.
