Nancy Schultz joins Foxcatcher group at Golden Globe Awards Sunday night

The major motion picture ‘Foxcatcher,’ has a chance to win three Golden Globe Awards live on NBC on Sunday night, and Nancy Schultz will be there.


Schultz, widow of wrestling legend Dave Schultz and a USA Wrestling leader, will join the Foxcatcher delegation on the red carpet and at the show, alongside members of its all-star cast and production team.


The 72nd Annual Golden Globe® Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, will air on Sunday, January 11, 2015, LIVE coast-to-coast on NBC from 5:00-8:00 p.m. (PST)/8:00-11:00 p.m. (EST).


The movie “Foxcatcher,” released by Sony Pictures, has received three Golden Globe nominations. Included are Best Motion Picture, Drama, Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama for Steve Carell and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Mark Ruffalo.


“It is an extreme honor for director Bennett Miller, Sony Pictures and Annapurna Pictures to invite me to Los Angeles and share this important event with the people of the Foxcatcher film. It gives me a chance to thank them for all they have done. I can also thank Mark Ruffalo for all the time he spent to portray the Dave Schultz that we all know and love,” said Nancy Schultz


“Foxcatcher” tells the story of Olympic champion wrestlers Mark Schultz and Dave Schultz, and tells their tragic story as members of Team Foxcatcher, a club created by du Pont family heir John E. Du Pont.


“From the first time I stepped on the set of Foxcatcher film, and I was there for several days of shooting, I was very impressed with the time, energy and focus they took recreate the time, place and people. Bennett Miller created an environment and attitude that everything was presented accurately. In any film, small changes, timeline adjustments and twists and turns take place to make a better movie. The essence of the characters and the story comes through accurately,” she said


Nancy Schultz spent substantial time with the actors, directors and production team during its development, as well as the people who promoted the movie after its November release.


“Throughout this process, Bennett Miller and Mark Ruffalo have become family friends. I will be proud to be part of this event. I am wishing good luck to Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo on their award nominations, and would be thrilled if ‘Foxcatcher’ were selected as best motion picture for drama,” she said.


Steve Carell plays millionare John E. du Pont, who created Team Foxcatcher for Olympic-caliber wrestlers. du Pont mentored Mark Schultz and murdered his brother Dave Schultz on Foxcatcher Farms.


Mark Ruffalo plays Olympic champion Dave Schultz, who follows his younger brother and Olympic champion Mark Schultz to Foxcatcher Farms, where he lives and trains under the support of John E. du Pont.
